New Delhi (ABC Live): India is all set to pass nuclear liability bill before US President Barack Obama's visit to India in the month of July or August 2010 to felicitate US firms to participate in firms in atomic commerce with India.
As per information, India’s national security adviser Shiv Shankar Menon has met BJP leaders to asking BJP support to nuclear liability bill, as Left parties are hard hitting opposing this bill terming this as a total surrender to United Sates by passing national interests.
It is to mention that if nuclear liability bill would be enacted, it will allow foreign companies to establish their nuclear power stations in India, whereas, up to now government owned NPCIL can operate nuclear power stations in India.
The core contentious issue in this bill, which raises eyebrows of every person is over the liabilities and responsibilities of foreign firms in case of a mishap. Keeping in view the number games in Indian Parliament after Women Reservation bill UPA government needs BJP nod to get this bill pass through, but could not able to convince its leaders yet to support.
Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP and Lalu Yadav RJD have already taken hostile position with UPA government on Women Reservation bill, so Congress can not rely on them for this geopolitics valued subject crucial for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his political survival.
